port 80 open?

The Shields Up website shows my port 80 as open, it has been suggested that some ISPs block port 80 so there may be no need to worry. Does anyone know if Plusnet does this.

No they don't. Port 80 is used for HTTP (website) connections.

there is no reason why you should have Port 80 open unless your router /modem has a web interface, and if that is the case make sure youc ant get at it from outside the LAN

Plus Net only block 2 ports, 443 and 135 .

Are you using a firewall? router with firewall? Port 80 would only be open if,

A) you running a web server from your own network
B) you have no firewall
C) You've opened port 80 by a firewall rule

What are those ports used for that Plusnet block?

Medal - If plusnet were blocking that port it would not show as open anyway. It would show as stealth. What router are using?

445 and 135 are both used by windows for file sharing and DCOM RPC.

AKA, they are all from windows security issues, that viruses exploit.
