masking the URL

I think that masking is the correct term,

Is there a way so make the URL look different from what it really is
for example, my plus.net home page is www.bond-net.co.uk

I have a feedback form on
http://cgi.rhosybol.plus.com/contactme/contactus.php (it does not work if I but my domain instead of rhosybol.plus.com)

My question is is there a way to make
http://cgi.rhosybol.plus.com/contactme/contactus.php
look like this
http://www.bond-net.co.uk/contactme/contactus.php

Can this be done with a .htaccess file?

masking the URL

This can'r be done with .htaccess, however,t ehre are two possible cures.

1: Move your website from the homepages server, over to the CGI server. Then raise a link:contact us ticket and ask for your domain to be pointed at the CGI server

2: Raise a link:contact us ticket asking for cgi.domain.co.uk to be pointed at your CGi webspace.

This will mean you can use http://cgi.domain.co.uk/contactme/contact.php poiting to the CGI server, whilst the main site remains on the homepages server.

masking the URL

Why not get plusnet to setup cgi.bond-net.co.uk to point to your cgi webspace then you can use http://cgi.bond-net.co.uk/contactme/contactus.php

Just raise a contact us ticket and arrange the change.

Or you can put your complete website on the cgi-server and point www.bond-net.co.uk to your cgi webspace. Again raise a ticket and ask for the change to be made.

I raised a ticket and got a reply as follows

This is something that you can set up yourself, by following the instructions on the following page.

http://usertools.plus.net/tutorials/id/14

The specific instructions for yourself can be found under the heading "Pointing your domain to the CGI server"

but I don't understand it, I replyed saying that I don't understand and got a reply saying that :

Unfortunately this is not something we can assist you further with. Please see our discussion forums or discuss this with someone experienced in configuring domain records for further assistance.

masking the URL

Hi,

From the tutorial;

raise a "Contact Us" ticket to PlusNet support asking them to "Change the CGI service to basic" this will create the necessary records on the CGI and DNS servers to correctly point the domain to your files on the CGI server.

Alternatively, you could use html frames(or an iframe) to point the site to the cgi server.
