linux antivirus with gui?

many thanks for such a quick reply.

i went through most of this list before the post and seem to have drawn a blank.

the nearest seems to be bitdefender for linux used with the webmin module.

i am very new to all of this linux stuff... please forgive me.

many thanks

Virus infection on *nix tends to be very low because it is a much tighter and secure system. WIndows is much easier to exploit so tends to get 99% of the virus related issues. Linux is not emune from infection but the damage that is possible is much less.

hear what you say and don't disagree, but there have to be 15 players in linux AV, and the only one with a gui seems to have been shut down by gates.

for us mortals "the command line does not rule ok"

seems time will sort it, but unless anyone knows different, gates has got us for now!

many thanks

Have you looked at NOD32.
I can't tell from the initial info if it has a GUI but it's
a great product on windows, free one month full version trial.
and is the first product I've found that uses minimum system resources.
Alec

PS I've just noticed it's on the list ( Eset ) so I guess you have.

Why are you stuck on requiring a GUI. Most unix utils tend to be command line based anyway? I realsie you are a novice but you will need to know how to run commands via the command line at some point - it's more fun that way Wink

Also automating the running of the virus scan (say once a week) is not difficult to do using cron / crontab.

while i can deal with the idea of command line, though i am bound to say i still think windows (or dare i say lindows) is here to say, many of the people i set things up for, ring me for advice if the choice is button 1 or button 2, let alone typing in a line of code.

sound like this is a linux gap!

thanks all
