Please can someone recommend a good isp for domain name registration. I want to be able to have good control over maintenance and be able to transfer in domains. Thank you.

I use these, though they are now owned by the parent of Pipex.

For .co.uks I would also recommend OneandOne. For .coms, .nets, etc. I use www.godaddy.com - $8.95 (about £5 at the current conversion rate).

123Reg where simple when we did it., although there was a charge for inward transfer IIRC.

We did this back when 1&1 had a very poor domaina managment system, so moved it away from them.

I've used 123reg's domain management and it looks good. Is 1&1's up to this standard now do u think?

Couldn't tell you. But I know they have added a lot of new controls, including the controls we needed when transfering to 123Reg.

I would go back with 1&1 now, because of these changes.

I have about 6 domains with 123-reg.co.uk and my experience with them has been positive. They used to forbid changed to DNS, but now they let you change name servers, mx records, etc direct from the 1&1 control panel (which is pretty good). £1.99 inc. VAT is a very competitive price for a .co.uk domain too.
