Hi, I wanna upload my website... how do I do that so that when I go to http://www.october5.plus.com/ the first thing I see is my index page instead of htdocs?

Thank you.

Upload your website into the htdocs directory on the FTP server.

When you visit your site, it is served from that directory.

Also dont forget that you need to name the first page as index.htm or index.html
Both will work and mean that when anyone visits your site http://www.otober5/plus.com it will automatically open the page called index instead of giving a file listing of htdocs as it is at the moment.

Hi. I have a link on my webpage to take the viewer back to the homepage. Do I create a separate homepage or do I create a link to index.html?

Creating a link back to index.html is fine.

Some folk like to make index.html a very brief quick-loading intro page with a obvious link leading to their "real" fancy homepage. Then you would link back to fancy as home and not to index.

So maybe you could use index.html as an intro page or something?

Yes, you have that option - should you want to use it.
Here's an example of what I mean on my very basic site - though it might be the opposite of what you want.

yeah i see whast you mean now. I've seen that used on other sites. I'm basically using a frame for all the info to appear in and the menu is on the right of the frame. So I would ideally like to use index as an intro page maybe then have the home page load in after the animation sequence or whatever has finished.
