guestbook

I dont know of any help files on the portal but yes you can host a guest book here.
I in fact have one for my domain www.hmrg.co.uk.
The important thing is that is has to be hosted on the CGI server and not on the main server "htdocs"
Some accounts dont have CGI server access (e.g. Pay as you go)so it does depend on just what type of account you have.

There is a tutorial though on the CGI server at this location

Please post a URL to your guestbook.

Is this on your www or cgi webspace? if cgi. remember html and php files cannpt be put in the cgi-bin directory.

A 500 error normally means you have bad HTML/perl/php code and it is not generating the page correctly . Just make sure you have installed all the files correctly as the instructions tell you and make sure all file permissions are correct.

guest book not working

I don't know how as I have not even added any code just trying to get it to run first first b4 I config it. I have posted the top part my guestbook.pl which sits in my cgi-bin with file attributes 755

my addguest html page has only had my cgi address added and I have made no changed to the guestbook log or guestbook page.
Any help would be great as been working on it now for 3 days, all the file attributes are 766 with those files.

1) Your URL was wrong. It should have been http://www.baggies666.co.uk/guestbook.html

2) The date command is wrong:

$date_command = "/files/home1/baggies666/usr/bin/date";

Should be

$date_command = "/usr/bin/date";

3) The other problem is the cgi server webspace is completely separate from your www webspace. This means you cannot access any files on the cgi server from the www server. i.e. You cannot access guestlog.html (which is on the cgi server in /files/home1/baggies666/) as http://www.baggies666.co.uk/guestlog.html

yea sorry trying to do things fast again input the web page wrong .
I can change the date line but confused about the item 3. I am not sure what I should be changing, my guestlog should be on my mine server and only the pl file on my cgi.

The guestlog is written by your perl script so can ONLY be saved on the cgi server.
