It will require two files.

1: A txt file with instructions to send to the FTP server.

This usualy contains somthing like

Quote

open ftp.host.name
user <username> <password>
commands with arguments
on seperate lines
quit


2: A batch file with
Quote

ftp -n < textfile.name


You can then schedual the batch file.

I have done it before but have forgot how to do it.

Using the ftp command promt built into 98 or xp how do I automate a session so I can run it at a preset time without any user having to do anything?

I want to simple log on CD copy a zip file to the server and end the session.

I seem to remember < a txt file some how but my brain is dead today(what brain)

Thanks for that I knew it was a < somewere in there. I did find leapftp which does the job its a gui but has a command line as well and a script language. It works well from cmd loads the gui runs the commands and quits great.

No user errror with that
