creating a DNS "A" record to point MX record at so

Hi,

I posted last week regarding the creation of MX and A records. I created an MX record called mail2. When checking an online DNS search I can see that the MX record is now created correctly with the name "mail2.domain.com".

Im now attempting to create an A record. I created mail2.domain.com and pointed to my IP. When entering this fqdn into a search engine however its not directed to my ip. (i have only given it 3 hours however but the MX record seems to have propagated in that time).

Anyway, is that all that needs to be done ?

I just want to be sure that my account is allowing me to do everthing that is required.

Is the creation of an A record effectivly creating a sub domain ?

Thanks
Scott.

The left side of the A record should just be mail2 (without domain.com) on it.
N/A
