Web Address Issue

Fine for me on 2 different PlusNet connections and a non PlusNet connection. What DNS servers are you using?

Primary DNS Server 212.159.13.49
Secondary DNS Server 212.159.13.50
Optional tertiary DNS server 212.159.6.9

I assume these are what you mean - I got them rom my connection settings.

When I disconnected my Broadband connection and accessed the internet using Plusnet's dial-up connection, I manage to get onto the web site.

Any ideas?

It could be the DNS Cache on your machine.

Try flushing it, using IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS

Sorry but....

Try using IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS means nothing to me. Can you provide or point me to some instructions.

Sorry,

It's run from a command prompt in windows, it's a DOS based command.

Press Start, Select Run

In the Box that opens type "CMD" and click OK

A small DOS window should appear.

Within that type "IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS" (Doesn't need to be in caps)

I successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache but it did not make any difference.

Is it relevant that I can access the site with a dial-up connecton but not with my Broad band connection?

It just means your probably hitting different DNS servers to get the IP address of the site.

Try, going into dial-up, opening a DOS command prompt (as previously described), type in Ping www.<the web address>

It should give you an IP address in brackets around the WWW address.

Go into broadband, in a browser, type "http://<ip address>

and see what happens, you may need to add a slash at the end.

On dial-up:

Ping www.middlesexccc.com - successfully connected 217.158.60.130

Ping 217.158.60.130 - successfully connected 217.158.60.130

On Broadband:

Ping 217.158.60.130 - successfully connected 217.158.60.130

Ping www.middlesexccc.com - successfully connected 217.158.60.130

Using Internet Explorer:

www.middlesexccc.com - nothing

217.158.60.130 - nothing

Doublesix,

Gadgetboy has a good and valid point. In my eyes IE isnt worth spitting on and therefore use a browser called firefox.

My second point would be to edit your post and take your mobile number out and send it to gadgetboy via PM so that you dont have any tom d1ck or harry phone you up at any god given hours of the day.

Hi if your happy with IE stick to IE, but I wanted to try the other browser, to identify whether it was something within the settings of IE. I'm not asking you to switch for good.

Scrub your number as well, msn me is better, you can get to my msn / e-mail addy from the sig.
