Waste of time

What a waste of time VOIP is if all ISP offering it are not linked to each other. It's like having a phone and only being able to talk to someone in your own town. Surely with all the different systems it's time they all linked up.

Actually all ISPs are not offering it. Not even the Virtual ISPs of plusnet are. But PlusNet are linking up with other SIP providers. Calling/Receiving calls from landlines will be available soon.

Brings me back to the days when you could only text message to the same mobile network.

We all thought it was useless...then they started allowing cross network texts and it was never that well publicised. And as we all know text messaging is crazy now.

I can see voip being the same.

Indeed. Everything just needs time to build.

It is the same when it come to IPv6.

We will need to adopt it sooner or later, and the current address space has very little life left in it. But the backend network that has adopted it, is still pretty small, and slowly building.
