WAP Site Hosting

As a matter of interest does Plus.net offer a WAP site hosting service, in the past I have used free hosts but would like to know can I use my webspace here to host it.

I have a username.plus.com and a bond-net.co.uk domain with Plus.net.

Yes you can run a wap website/page. Just use .wml instead of .html on your page filenames (and of course WML code in it instead of HTML).

So if I put a directory in htdocs called wap and put a indexpage in there called index.wml and then on my mobile went to www.bond-net.co.uk/wap it would display the index.wml page?

Are there any free WLM WYSIWYS programmes you would suggest?

WAP Site Hosting

I have found an useful website for learning WML for WAP sites
http://www.w3schools.com/wap/wml_format.asp

Just a quick question the first three lines in their examples (I don't paste them here in case they have an effect on the forums!), is there anything there I would need to change what is the URL on the third line for does that need changing to my WAP URL?

If you get this to work, please let me know. I've asked many a time over in the CGI area of the plusnet forum about how to get a WAP site up and running, and although people tend to give kind advice, despite following it to the letter it doesn't work and no-one actually seems to have a working example of a WAP site hosted on a plusnet server.

If anyone wants to prove me wrong and show me a working WAP site hosted on a plusnet server, please, PLEASE do.

I'll even give you some chocolate as a thank you, and believe me I VERY rarely give away chocolate.

I thought you but the files into htdocs?

WAP Site Hosting

I've tried it on the criticalmass's root directory, tried it IN the CGI directory, AND in various locations on the html server, all with the same result - it doesn't work.

They all work fine in a WAP emulator, (except the one IN the CGI directory itself,) but that's not really the point of having a WAP site is it? It should work from a mobile phone.

But it doesn't.

I seriously would give chocolate to ANYONE who can show me a working WAP site hosted here.

Anyone.......?

WAP Site Hosting

Nooo....

There is no guide to it, nothing in the tutorials and FAQS about it, and no-one has a working WAP site hosted here to demonstrate.

Methinks it isn't possible...

http://www.wytelion.plus.com/wap.wml

ignore the normal homepage if you decide to look, it's just a few links Smiley can't be bothered doing it up anymore, was part of a larger site, but decided to delete it all off, and keep the links, for personal use Smiley

I've found this site to be pretty helpful.

I have, put them into the normal webspace and they work fine Smiley

the code does need to be right though, when I first set about creating one ages ago, it would load fine on the simulators, and what have you, but on a phone, it refused to load.

hope that helps

I tried again even tried using the above code to test it nd it did not work, it works fine on Gelon.net but not on my mobile, I get the following message

Your request for a service could not be fulfilled. Please try again later or contact your operator if the problem persists.

Yet I can view other WAP sites fine.
