Using webspace as file vault

Not interested in creating website for public access. Just want to use my 250MB webspace allocation to store work-related files so that I can access them from whereever I happen to be. How do I do this so that they're not publicly visible?

Thanks.

I would encrypt anything you put in the webspace that you don't want people to access, regardless of any front end masking (such as a blank index.html) you employ. Use something like PGP or at least zipped with a good password.

Thanks for the suggestion, but sounds a bit fiddly. Is there no way of setting access control at 'directory' level, rather than at file level, IYSWIM?

How about having a little twiddle with .htaccess?

Actually I do have another question. I can't see .htaccess or .htpasswd in my web area using CuteFTP. This is addressed in your tutorial, but I can't really understand the instructions to do this. Can you help?

Oh don't worry - I've sorted this now. Thanks again.
