Slightly cross posted - port 445

I am notiicing increasing numbers of attempts to connect to port 445 on my firewall logs. All of these are from +net/force 9 IPs.

This would lead me to believe that this port is being blocked at +net's borders. Could we have the same blocking internally I wonder??

No.

Port 135 is blocked if you are connected to one of the redbacks but not if you connect throug the Juniper - these manage the BT central pipes that we all connect through to get out into the internet.

Port 445 could not be blocked as explained by Ian Wild in This ADSLguide thread.

Please try not to create multiple threads on the same subject (called cross posting), it gets very confusing when answers are split between them.

Point taken Peter, although I did state in my subject that I was slightly cross posting Shockedops:

Even so it does confuse other users and results in duplication of information.

This thread is now locked in favour of the other one here.
