Shoutcast, webspace and .htaccess.

I've started a shoutcast server and after a while of tinkering with my firewalls etc I've got it working. At the moment it only seems to stream to people with iTunes for some reason, Winamp won't connect to it. Not too bothered about that because I mostly want to stream it to Windows Media Player anyway. There's lots of posts around on the Winamp/Shoutcast support forums that say I need a server with the correct MIME settings. I've tried their suggestions of uploading a .htaccess file with this that and the other in it to get the stream to play in Media Player with an ASX file on my webspace but to no avail. It won't connect, and when someone clicks the link on the site it says that there's an error, the page cannot be displayed.

I've also tried to work around that by embedding the stream into the page using this section of code I found on the Shoutcast forum:

<OBJECT ID="MediaPlayer" WIDTH=385 HEIGHT=147
STANDBY="Loading Windows Media Player components..."

<PARAM NAME="FileName" VALUE="http://***.***.***.***:****" valuetype="ref" ref>

And guess what, it still doesn't work.

I'm at my wits end over this, I can't think of anything else I can do to try and get it to work. The only thing I can think of is this MIME class type thing, and as I've got no clue of what codes to use specific to I don't know what to do. I have the package where I pay an extra pound a month for a domain name as well if that's any help. Can anyone shed any light on my problem?

Thanks alot,

Rob Cooke.

Not to worry, got it working now. If anyone's interested. Playing dance garage and taking requests, only on some of the time so don't be too dispointed if it isn't there when you go to tune in :roll:

Site's a bit basic, but it does the job for most people.

How did you get it working ?
