SMTP Help

Hi,

Have just bought a pop3 e-mail account for my business for my incoming e-mail. I am now trying to setup the SMTP server so that it sends mail through my plusnet account.

I am using Outlook 2003, and have set up the SMTP as 'relay.plus.net' - making sure to set the username and password for the SMTP in the advanced options.

Everytime i try to test the e-mail it comes up with an insert username and password for the relay.plus.net account, which leads me to believe i am entering the wrong details somehow.

Surely my username and password is the same as what i would use to log into plusnet member centre/webmail?

Any help would be superb!

There should be no username and Password for outgoing mail, as it is not authenticated.

Try removing them from the settings.

username and password is only used for pop3 collection. PlusNet's SMTP requires no user/pass authentication, it verifies you are on a PlusNet IP instead so you do have to be on a plusnet IP to use relay.plus.net.
