RIP parameters on router/modem

I have an AR41 and notice that one of the settings is to set RIP parameters. The 'help' isnt and I wondered if anyone knew what RIP stands for and what I can achieve by using it?

RIP stands for routing information protocol and is of no use to you unless your private network contains multiple subnets.

Changing these will not harm your router or network.

RIP is the phonebook of a network. It tells devices through which devices data needs to go to get to its destination.

If you do or don't send it, it doesn't matter
