PlusTalk quality, 1930's radio from a tunnel!

I have set up PlusTalk using X-Lite.

Currently, the settings are the default and I have used the audio wizard.

I have not the opportunity to test with another PlusNet user, but calling BT numbers the voice received at my end is acceptable, but the recipient says the voice received is like a 1930's radio......very crackly and coming from a tunnel!

Any ideas?

I use Skype-to-Skipe and that's quite good, though I've not tried Skype to a BT number.......not enough saving really!

Cheers......

Following the advice in another thread and using the 7000 test number ( the existence of which is well hidden!), I now have acceptable quality.

I also re-installed Zone Alarm in the same period, but I assume that the improvement in quality was not related to this.

I guess better quality still would only be achieved from a new audio card!
