Plus hosted DNS CName

Yes, where you have svr1.domain.co.uk it needs to be cvr1.domain.co.uk.

Note the . at the end.

Plus hosted DNS CName

Hi All

I have set up a couple A-Names in a clients plusnet hosted DNS and they are working fine. At the same time I set up a couple C-Names to point to the A-Names and these C-Names are not resolving. If I do an nslookup on the c-name I get an unknown domain error. if I do a nslookup, set type=any, I dont see the c-names in the list.

The setup through the portal looks something like this;
IPs and host names are for example only
Left, type, right
svr1, a, 212.159.1.10
svr2, a, 212.159.1.11
mail, c-name, svr1.domain.co.uk
dmz, c-name, svr2.domain.co.uk

For the benefit of plusnet staff, the domain name is
hodchoc-hq DOT co DOT uk

So what have I done wrong?

Plus hosted DNS CName

mail, c-name, svr1.domain.co.uk

There is no ending period on the end of svr1.domain.co.uk

This is important when entering FQDs.

Plus hosted DNS CName

Thanks Phil

Can you please clarify.

What I think you are saying is that I need to enter;
Left field, Type, Pri, Right field
alias-name, CNAME, , real-host.mydomain.co.uk.

Is that right?
