PeerCache - P2P

Hi

Sorry if this in the wrong forum for this.

But in light of the current issues with heavy bandwidth usage. How much of this would be P2P traffic? I would guess this would be a lot of the ISP total traffic.

Have PlusNet looked into P2P caching software eg PeerCache http://www.joltid.com/index.php/peercache/

Reading from the above site - this software can benifit both the users and ISP.

Whats peoples thinking on this? Any comment from Plus Net?

It would make no difference as the problem is bandwidth on the BT central pipes.

The BT centrals is the connection between plusnet and you so Plusnet caching anything would still have to go over the BT centrals and thus still use up bandwidth.

e.g.

internet cloud -> plusnet -> BT central pipes -> BT network -> you

internet cloud -> plusnet -> plusnet cache -> BT central pipes -> BT network -> you

See, no difference.
