MX records and mail routing

We have recently joined PlusNet and have transferred in our domain name from Demon.

I have requested SMTP mail delivery from PlusNet to our (new PlusNet) fixed IP via the 'Domain names' menu and this has been accepted.

I know that it can take some time (3 days?) for the DNS to catch up with this change - an annoyance but I can live with it.

However, I have just picked up an email from Demon addressed to our domain which, I notice from the routing information, actually had to pass through PlusNet on its way to the Demon mail servers. Are the PlusNet DNS servers not updated when my SMTP request is actioned, or is there something else I should do with our MX records for our domain... or should just keep calm and wait!?

Go to the demon site use their network tools examine your domain dns data to see who has your mx records. Unless you want your mail coming direct from the sender to you don't change the mx records
