Incoming 0845 problems

Hi,

I have managed to get outgoing calls via my PC and PlusTalk using X-Lite working.

But when I call the 0845 number for incoming calls I get passed straight to the voicemail service.

I have had a good look aroung and cannot see why this is.

I have moved my PC to the DMZ of my router to see if this helps but it makes no difference.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Incoming 0845 problems

This may or may not be relevent - I was having similar problems with Asterisk. It turns out I was using my PlusTalk SIP address (plustalk@rivendell2.plus.com) instead of my PlusTalk ID as my username in my registration requests. Changing my registration username to my ID number fixed the problem.

However, oddly it seems I need to use the SIP address instead of the ID when making outgoing calls.

I have discussed this with another of our voip specialists and they will be contacting networks tomorrow to further investigate this as it may provide the key to some difficulties we have been seeing with 0845 going to voicemail.

You might also want to check into the duplicate registration replies I've been getting, detailed in another thread: http://portal.plus.net/central/forums/viewtopic.php?t=42446
I don't know if it's actually going to be causing anyone any problems, but it's definately not right.

Incoming 0845 problems

For reference, I'm also having the same problem. I've got outgoing calls working fine, but nothing but voicemail on the 0845 number.

Should I raise a ticket?

Raising a ticket

Its pointless raising a ticket on PlusTalk problems as they seem to go into a black hole. I have one PlusTalk ticket outstanding since mid-March and another since 1 June.

I just despair at this situation... :?

I've raised a couple of tickets on PlusTalk problems and after the initial "your firewall is probably blocking it" response I've managed to get them passed up to the "VoIP specialists" and had a good response from them.

Incoming 0845 problems

It seems to be working ok for me at the moment, but I am getting random disconnects mid-call...frustrating for my callers who don't appreciate the unreliablility compared to BT...

Incoming 0845 problems

Everything was working on my installation until about midday today, and although I can make outgoing calls, all incoming calls are going to voicemail.

Anybody know if there is a problem with the PlusTalk service today?

Hi all

I like you have not been able to receive incoming calls, raised a ticket, PN said to set port forwarding this was done as per instructions, did the echo test, (dial 7000) that seemed fine but i still cannot receive incoming calls, when i dial in all i get is a message saying "the other person has cleared"

PN have not since replied...... must be too boring for them

Incoming 0845 problems

To be honest I can't see it being a problem at the user end, at least from my experience. It's intermittent and I'm not changing anything at home, so surely there's an issue at the PN end? I don't see why my router (Linksys) would allow incoming calls one minute and not the next....sometimes calls connect properly but cut out half way through.

Incoming 0845 problems

I was experiencing problems with incoming, sometimes they will get through other times going to voicemail. This is using sipgate so might not be the same problem as Plustalk.

The solution I found was to port forward 5060 or 5061. What was happening was my adsl modem was disconnecting and when this happened it reset the open ports. The ports will reopen at the next registration but as I'm using a PAP this could be as long as an hour. Next time this happen check the modem log to see if you had a disconnect. If so making an outgoing call should reopen port 5060 and after that incoming calls should work. If this work then it prove that it's down to this and port forwarding will resolve the problem
