How accurate is the published broadband availability date?

We are considering moving to a rural area where there is currently no broadband Sad

The broadband availability checker tells me that the exchange at the new location is scheduled to be upgraded on 13th July 2005.

Is this date likely to be accurate?

Or does anyone have experience where this date keeps "slipping to the right" :?:

These dates are usualy very accurate, but like anything that involves looking ahead, slippages do happen.

It is my understanding that only 7 or 8 exchanges, out of all those activated since the forward planning dates started, have slipped.

These have been due to technical reasons, usualy related to local councils (being slow in providing wayleave), or where cable runs fail or run behind schedual.

The more rural, the greater the chance of it slipping, but the risks are minimal.
