Fax2e-mail

When I receive a fax via e-mail I receive a *.tif file. When I open it in Photoshop to view it, the aspect ratio is wrong in that the image is about 50% of the corect width. This is of no real problem as I can resize the image, but it would be nice to know how to avoid this.
Thanks,
Richard

I've heard of this happening before but have no real answer why.
I use the default Windows "Picture and Fax Viewer" with XP and the aspect ratio of the fax is maintained correctly.
Could be a function of Photo Shop :?

Have you tried opening the tif file with something else.
Also is it the sender thats altering the image before it gets to you.
Does a test fax sent to yourself work correctly?.

I have been doing a bit of experimenting in Pshop and have found a way of correcting the bitmap image. Once the file is open I go to Image>pixel aspect ratio>square, and the image aspect ratio is corrected.
Thanks,
