Having recently obtained the X-Lite 3 software, and having struggled to set it up (it's now working), I've been testing the line quality to see if I can use it for general telephony. I am on a PAYG product including 120mins of PlusTalk per month. Unfortunately, so far the quality has been abysmal. Everyone I have phoned has complained. I can hear the person I am calling well enough, but in the other direction (voice-out), they complain of constant breaking-up. I have to abandon those calls and use a conventional telephone. I have tried disabling various codecs, leaving just the two G711 codecs. I have tried using the GSM codec. Nothing improves the situation. This can't be a bandwidth problem, because it is an 8Mbps connection with prioritized traffic at all times.
