Error pages

I have a large fansite based in separate hosting (Pidranet). We have set it up so that if anyone requests a page which doesn't exist they get a customised error page and they are automatically redirected to the index.

I'd like to try the same here, but the setup doesn't work.

ie errors directory within the main directory. Error page called 404.php or 404.html

It works fine over there but not here. I don't want redirection to main webspace index. I need the error to redirect to the index of the relevant site.

I'm hoping there is an easy solution Smiley

Thanks

You need to make a .htaccess file which includes

ErrorDocument 404 http://fa55.net/error404.htm

Change the url to suit your needs ie http://www.yourusername.plus.com/

Thanks, but now I'm even more confused.

I tried that and uploaded it. I needed to get the assistance of a computerliterate friend LOL. Still it doesn't do what I want Sad

Could you explain in a bit more detail for this poor tired soul?

I wrote a tutorial on .htaccess and how to use the custom error pages (among other things) which can be viewed here. A list of error codes to use can be found here
