Email Spoof

I've just had my first instance of someone spoofing my address with a virus.

I know that the email didn't come from me.

Is there anything I (or PlusNet) can do to stop this occuring?

Thanks

Nope, nada, nothing.

It's a bit like I have the ability to walk into a shop and say my real name is Tony Blair. Nobody has any need to not beleive me until the time comes to proove it.

The same applies with e-mail. THere is no way to authenticate that a from address belongs to that person.

The best you can do is ignore all the people that moan at you for sending them viruses (we know you havn't). They aint got a legal leg to stand on and more than anything, they shoudl gove you a laugh as you know you know just that little bit mroe than them Smiley

I know that spoofing exisats - but not how it works. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing!
