Domain Email Woes

Hi there,

I'm having no luck getting my domain email delivered to me SMTP server.

I can send outbound email, receive inbound from my Plus username email via POP3, I can even telnet to my SMTP server from outside. But anything sent to my domain address gets bounced with the following error:

>This message was created automatically by mail delivery software.
>
>A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its >recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:
>
> simon@xxx.co.uk
> Too many "Received" headers - suspected mail loop

I've read the "how to" guides and several posts in the forums, but I'm still not having any luck.

My mail settings in the portal are set to "other" and the DNS entries look like this:

LEFT TYPE PRI Right
=================================================
www a 81.174.xxx.xxx
beaker a 81.174.xxx.xxx
mx 5 beaker

"beaker" is the name of the mailserver

Any help would be gratefully received.

Cheers,

Q.

How long ago did you activate Other or SMTP delivery?

I beleive this can happen whilst internal DNS records timeout.

It's now about 24 hours since I made the change. The non delivery errors have stopped, but the mail still isn't getting through to my server.

Even email from my me@accountname.plus.com isn't arriving at my server (I'm assuming the Plus DNS would have updated by now).

I'm still wondering if the DNS records are correct?

So, are the DNS records set up correctly, anyone.....?

Mail still isn't arriving.

The mail is still not arriving and the contents of the NDRs has now changed:
