Not that i would blatently market anything from Netgear. But have you seen this little job?

Netgear TA612V

Netgear quality at way less than Cisco pricing. Smiley

Hehe... nice plug Mark. I like Netgear stuff and that looks very nice... however, I already have the Cisco one. BT gave it to me for free when I signed up to Broadband Voice with them.

Reviews don;t look too healthy here

Also, worrying thing suggests to me it wont work with my DG834G, or indeed with any router.

Hi Liam,

Yip there may be some issues with configuration compared to the ease of setup with other Netgear products. It will work with your router see this from the Netgear forums.

At the minute it takes some playing with, but most of them do and it will work with any voip provider.

Support from Netgear UK for this product is a bit iffy at the moment. I am told that it was introduced before first line support knew about it. (Where have we heard that before Smiley )but improvements and enhancements are on their way.

Anybody had any luck with the 186 yet?

If not what's the cheapest VOIP adapter (RG54) I can buy?

It would seem these may be locked to BT. I've not tried though.

This looks fairly nice - might get me one.

You may be right though on the other hand I did come across this:

http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/voice/ata/ataadmn/sip30ad/index.htm

Seems like it might work with firmware Rev 3.0.0 ?

Right,

I've managed to de-lock it from BT and also upgrade the firmware to the SIP compatible firmware.

That took a lot of work....

Now I can't seem to get it to authenticate, or connect to Plustalk. Don't know why as it doesn't tell me... but I've filled out the config settings, but when it reloads I don't get a dialtone.

Anyone here speak Cisco.?

I followed this guide - http://www.rhinobell.net/products/cisco-ata-186

And adapted it for PlusTalk.... but I can't seem to get it to work.

Cisco ATA186 with Plustalk

Wooohooo... After another few hours playing today... I got it to work.

My thanks to Jon (Comms) for the help and advice, but finally it now works a treat.

Anyone with an ATA 186 and whom wants to use it with Plustalk, let me know and I'll post details of how I did it... after I've had a break from it (spent a long time trying to make it work!).
