Can I use Tesco USB internet phone?

Not yet got round to using my free minutes on the broadband phone so am keen to try and get something set up if possible.

Is it possible to use the USB Tesco internet phone(Model E337) and the X-Lite software in conjunction with my Netgear DG834G router. Anyone know about this or tried it or give me some pointers?

Thanks

I can't comment on the Tesco's USB phone or X-lite (spit).
But http://ekiga.org/ works fine with my Netgrear DG834GT.

Cheers for that info Chilly. Unfortunately not really up to speed with the configuration needed all seems very confusing to me!. The set up on the software for ekiga.org appears to need registration and payment if making calls to landlines? What type of internet phone are you using and have you any specific firewall rules set up in the Netgear router? Thanks

No rules on the router.

And you can use your PlusTalk account with ekiga, that's what I do. So no need for their account, which the configuration does point you towards.

Here is the account setting that I am using, note the "123456" should be you PlusTalk SIP id from this page;

Cheers for that. Software installs Ok and setup is fine but think the Tesco USB phone is not recognised by the software. OK in X-Lite but neither will work with the phone. Guess I will have to try a headset and microphone combination over the weekend and see how that gets on. Thanks again.
