Bit Torrents & Firewalls -

Hi,

I'm having lots of problems getting bit torrent to work behind my software firewall.

I've configured Port 6969, 6881-6889 for the router and that seems to be fine.

If I do the same for the personal firewall, I lose all incoming downloads. If I want to use it, I'm forced to shutdown my software firewall Sad

When using my software firewall, there seem to be a lot of connections outside the normal range of ports.

I'm not entirely happy about not having a software firewall running, even if I am behind a full hardware firewall.

Any thoughts, advice.

Running Torrent Burst! RC5c here, on Win2k and Zone Alarm, no problem. I used the default installation parameters. Also running Make Torrent with problemz.

Hi,

I've solved the problem and changed my software firewall while I'm at it, to outpost Cheesy

my problem was caused by the fact some people randomise their ports, to avoid throttling which occurs with some ISP's (Not PN) .

However I've adjusted the firewall config on my router, and with a new software firewall the problem is now solved.
