Leave well alone. AVG is a good one and if it's not broken, then don't fix it.
If you do wish to try Avast, which is also supposed to be good, though I've not used it, uninstall AVG first and run something like CrapCleaner to clean out the debris first.
It's not a good idea to run two together. They could conflict.

I have used Avast and AVG, I like both, but thought that Avast was a better antivirus.
As advised don't use two together. However, I do have A2 , spybot, adaware, shredder and Ewido etc. as "standalones" for a spring clean.

2 BEST free antivirus on the market today, it even beats some commercial AV software/suites Smiley

I`m a computer engineer and well about the two free antivirus progs if I were to use a percentage of virus found by these two programs against a comercial program then these are not far of the results I have observed

ok comercial first

Kapersky 98%
Norton 95%
F-protect 98%
nod 32 99%
Mcafee 95%
Trend Pc-cillin 99%

Avg 78%
Avast 78%

F-protect is a fairly inexpensive Antivirus solution and in my opinion meets the minimum recommendations

Me too.

They buck the trend of some that I usually refer to.

Thats the first survey where I have seen Norton out perform AVG.

Interesting reading.

Perhaps the viruses got so fed up trying to get through the Norton bloatware they gave up and went away.

Iv'e been using Trend PC-cillin for years, simple to use includes AV, firewall, spyware, anti spam, WiFi detection, auto updates, touch wood, never had a virus infection yet.

Only drawback is its not the cheapest, but then you get what you pay for.
