Adding a cname - not working

You should be using an A record not a Cname to point to an IP address. Check out the tutorial in the Tutorials and FAQs forum.

Whats the domain name you are having a problem with?

Have you read this tutorial which refers to setting up domain name records?

If you wish to have irc.domain.co.uk resolve to an IP you should use an A record, not a CNAME.

It should look like that, but change "www" to "irc" and change the IP to that which you want the subdomain to resolve to.

I beleive 12 to 24 hours on a PlusNet connection and then upto 24 hours more for the rest of the world.

It will all depend how old the cache is on your machine.
