My guess is that this is one of the following

the directory on the site ie username.plus.com/directory, that is the most likely or it could be the htdocs folder.

What software are you using and is it just html pages or are there are perl (.pl), php (.php) or cgi scripts (.cgi) involved? if any of those extensions exist then you must install the software on your CGI webspace (cgi.username.plus.com) and not your www webspace.

Also the http address would need to be www.username.plus.com (or cgi.username.plus.com if on the cgi server) and not just username.plus.com which actually points to your ADSL IP address and not your www webspace.

Does it say what this remote directory is to be used for in the documentation?

Hi again I went and put in username.plus.com/directory and then tryed username.plus.com/htdocs and nothing happened.

Peter its just for auction wizard 2000 and its just space to put images for my auctions so nothing complicated with perl (.pl), php (.php) or cgi scripts (.cgi) involved I don't think.

Yes I did put for http address http://www.username.plus.com/

I'm not really up on much to do with webspace and cgi etc s excuse me for sounding a little thick.

The username.plus.com/directory you suggested rhosybol is that a name of one of my directories that I should be putting in or simply the word directory which is what I did and it didn't work.

The directory should be one you have created and not be 'directory'. i.e. where you will be FTPing your images to. It should be a directory created in htdocs i.e. images. You can create directoried using your ftp client.

Does the setup for the remote directory require a directory path or a URL? Do they give an example?

If it's a URL then it will be http://www.username.plus.com/images/ (the last / may or may not be required depending on how the software works).

If it's an actual directory path it will be: /share/isp/plusnet/www/uu/username/htdocs/images/ where uu is the first 2 chars of your username and username is your username.

Wow now I'm confused lol

It sadly doesn't give a example no.

how do I go about create a directory images using ftp client, do I have to download cuteftp.

If you would be patient with me as not great doing anything like this

not quite sure what all : /share/isp/plusnet/www/uu/username/htdocs/images/ where uu is the first 2 chars of your username and username is your username. is

I don't think it will be anything as complicated as that, I will ask them at auction wizard if they could tell me what kind of remote directory they want, but doubt they'll reply for ages.

Hi,

remote directory normally refers to the directory that you want to create to store your images.

I assume that they have provided you with a program to put the images on your webspace, that is the only reason that it would ask for your connection details for FTP.

Just put htdocs into the remote directory space.
