ATA 1100 'phone adaptor....help required!

I am trying to get an ATA 1100 'phone adaptor working with my home 'phones and PlusTalk, but so far without success.

Initially, I would like to verify if I have set up the ATA menu correctly with the PlusTalk requirements. Can anyone help?

A screen grab showing the PlusTalk entries, or an indication of which PlusTalk field is entered into which ATA 1100 menu field, would be great.

If the adaptor still doesn't work I would like to pursue the issue further.

Regards and thanks.......

ATA 1100 'phone adaptor....help required!

I am delighted to record that I have now identified the settings for the ATA 1100 adaptor, validated by the MD of ProVu, Tim Bray.

A further problem, incoming calls failing to ring my home 'phones, was cured by applying the advise of Tim Bray, viz ensure that the RJ11-to-BT socket adaptor used, contains a ring capacitor, many don't , but look the same!

For your info, I cannot recommend too strongly the Halifax-based specialists in IP coms, ProVu...... http://www.provu.com/

........a most helpful and obliging organisation.

Certainly I can, sigen.

I assume that your ATA 1100 adapter connects to your router OK and you have opened the ports required by PlusNet. PlusNet recommended to me that the ports are manually opened, although I do have the UPnP setting set to "Yes."

I have the adapter settings in a Word document copied from a screen-grab. It would be easiest if I attached these to an e-mail to you.

What is your e-mail address?

ATA 1100 'phone adaptor....help required!

I have a ATA1100 working on plustalk, the service sort of work… it tends to sometimes fail to ring out Sad ... think this is a problem with plustalk.
I can email a screen capture of my settings if anyone is interested.
PS I also have a Dial Plan working for my area on the ATA1100.

Dear Noel,

I couldnt identify the ports that required to be opened on my router. If you could let me know which ones that would be great. ProVu sent me a PDF which wasnt very detailed or decific to PlusNet which is understandable.

my email is sjg@sigen.co.uk if you are able to provide any info it would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,
Stuart.

Stuart.......I have e-mailed a text-file of the ATA 1100 settings I use (I thought it was a Word file!), excluding personal values. I have given the Ports that PlusNet say require opening.

A lot of set up details are in PlusNet's info, together with the settings PlusNet gives for there supplied routers. All on their site.

Cheers........Noel

Dear Noel,

Many thanks for sending me the information, there were one or two things that i had missed in the setup.

Im VoIPing away no probs now... well now that i have a new power adapter - the old one went bang with a blue flash when i connected it.

I do notice that i cannot make but can receive calls just now, i see that PlusNet are reporting some issues whilst they upgrade software or something.

Thanks again,
Stuart.

OK, Stuart.

Are you saying that can receive calls from BT landline numbers? If so, they connect whether your ATA 1100 is on or not!

However, I find the PlusNet service less reliable than prior to 4 July, when PlusNet offered their National sevice.

On outgoing VoIP calls I do not obtain a calling-out tone and although I raised a ticket on 10 July and the ticket was "escalated" on 13 July, I have heard nothing since.

Yeh, basically, the phone rings when i call the 0845 number and call goes through ok.

If i ring out through the ATA1100 i either get the plus net message saying they cannot connect my call or it just goes silent then a tone which the ATA calls "Call 1 Tone: Reorder"

The annoying thing is, if i open up X-Lite then i can call in and out there no problems.

Have registered for free with sipgate and am just going to give it a try with the ATA, more settings and port settings! Oh no!

ATA 1100 'phone adaptor....help required!

I have just received the following info from CSS in response to an earlier query of mine regarding the absence of the calling-tone when making an outward call using a 'phone adapter....in my case the ATA 1100.......

Our network engineers are aware of a current problem with our Broadband Phone system. The logged problem ID is 33886. This is effecting multiple users. When we have enough information service updates will be posted on our service status pages.

Hope this info is useful.......Regards......
