problems setting up email

Hi, i am haiving problems with my email account.
i am using thunderbird as my client (also tried it with outlook)
it keeps telling me that my username or password is incorrect.
the details i am using is
[username]@plusdsl.net
the password is the one i use on here, and i have had the site send me the password, so i know i have been using the correct password.
email address is : <snip>
am i missing something simple?

First, assuming your plusnet account login is drivingschool,  your email address is <snip>, plusdsl.net is only used for your router username.
Second, is mark a mailbox you have created or do you only have your default mailbox?
If this is not your default mailbox then the username will be drivingschool+mark and the password you entered when you created the mailbox.
If you are trying to access your default (catchall) mailbox the login is just drivingschool with your main plusnet account password.

also my webmail has the same problem, username, and password checked again

We don't have any email addresses set up for you yet. By default no mailboxes are added to your account so you need to go and request this here: https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=add_mailbox
Once you've set up your mailbox this should start working for you.

thanks for the reply, but if i have no mailbox has been setup, how come i was given an email address in my settings, and email from plusnet stating the same email?

POP3 login name: xxx@xxx.net - I think a problem needs raising for that one!

That's a good question, it shouldn't have indicated any email address if you didn't specifically choose to take one during signup. I'll take a look into that.

I have now setup that email on plusnet, but still cannot log onto either webmail, or my email client.
same message each time as per attachments further up.

jim:post This thread has got email addresses scattered all over it - I have removed the first two but have given up.
If the original poster doesn't want his email scattered all over the internet with the associated spam problems please advise

The username should just be one word, so if your account name is cyclopops your default mailbox username will also be cyclopops. I've checked and it's set up correctly from here so there should be no reason for it not to be available.
You may want to try downloading Plusnet Assist and letting that set up your mail for you. http://www.plus.net/assist/

just to update, i ran out of time this morning to do any more before going to work so left it as it was.
got home, fired up my email client, and it worked without any changes. so not sure wht happened, did it need time for the settings to get thru properly?

There is a delay between a mailbox being created and it becoming accessible so that could well be the reason.
