I am trying to set up outlook 2016, with plusnet email and keep being told to 'give the account permission to sync to this device' Any idea how I do that?

Please could you confirm which device you are using when that message appears? Also that the problem is occurring with the Outlook that comes as part of Office 2016?
Sorry, still more questions - what action causes that message to be issued and is there any additional information in the message. Particularly is it mail or calendar related?
