newbie just created a plus net email account ......

hi all, i just signed up, for my Plus Net installation this morning it should all happen in a couple of weeks time !. I shall then get rid of Virgin Media for ever and ever ! 
On my Apple mac book pro i added my Plus Net email account into Mail the Apple email program.
I tried a send/receive which didn't work, but am i correct in thinking, it won't work until i am connected to the Plus Net Server ?

If you are using the Plusnet servers then send won't work until you are connected via Plusnet.
Receive should work providing your email address is active
If you go to here is there an email address showing under Manage My Mail https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=myemail&s=1&redirected=yes&?membermenu=emailsettings
If there is try Webmail https://webmail.plus.net/src/login.php
Name is either just username or username+mailboxname if there is a mailbox setup
