marked as spam - still getting them

I "manage" my wife`s email account on webmail.... 99.99% of the stuff she receives is "repeat" spam.... usually about 50 per day. I notice that many of them are repeat senders, and they get "marked as spam", then moved to the junk mail box, then I mark them for deletion, then they move to the deleted box, then I mark them as spam again, and they get deleted....
I have been doing this for over a year now, and still see the same names and companies.... she has not "renewed" her "interest" in these sites for over 18 months, ( she has been very ill - hence me "managing" her mail)...
What is the point of marking stuff as spam, if the spam filter is not going to reject them .
She does not get "personal" email, so I could change her email address to stop the spam from arriving at her in box,.... but it will still be sent and going into a black hole in PlusNet towers... somewhere...

That sounds like it's not spam but mailing lists that she no longer wants to subscribe to? If so then you should be unsubscribing rather than marking as spam.
The spam training doesn't work on an individual account basis, so you marking these as spam may eventually affect others that *do* want to keep receiving them.

OK.... so the easiest thing for me to do, (as she has so many sites she indiscriminately "subscribed to" ) would be to change her email address, and block the one she has presently.

She could also add them to the blocked senders list but if she doesn't mind changing the email you could add a second one as you suggest and blackhole the old one.

I have changed her email address, and deleted the old one... she probably won`t notice ! ! ! ... until.... she wants to send an email..... Cheesy
. then I can tell her what the new one is ! !

I don't think that will stop her sending one but anyone who tries to reply will be in trouble
