I am running ipadOS 18.1 on a new iPad 2022 10th generation.
In December 18.2 was released and immediately users of the native Mail app using IMAP reported inability to sync with servers and retrieve mail. I held off. Web workarounds are based on Private Relay and pihole neither of which mean anything to me.
The problem seems not to have been rectified.
18.2.1 was released yesterday. There are some similar reports but it's too early. I am still holding off.
Has anyone had experience of the 18.2 update and IMAP/Mail app failure?
All information welcomed especially from PN (some users have had ISPs change their email server settings).

I updated my iPhone to 18.2 some time ago and do not recall any issues. I see that 18.2.1 is pending, if I see anything untoward, I'll advise here.
Nothing to do with upgrades the iOS mail application does have a history of getting the profiles messed up, much like Outlook profile issues. I have on occasion found that deleting and reinstating an IMAP account rectifies such issues.

No troubles here, using an iPad Pro 2020 on iPadOS 18.2 (just updating to 18.2.1). I wasn't even aware there were issues to be fair. I'm also using an iPhone with 18.2 as well, again no issues.
I have a PN account on there, but don't really use it, it's just there for any PN admin messages I might miss.
I also use a number of iCloud accounts, a Gmail account and an Outlook account (mostly as backups or just IDs for those services).
So far no real issues since 18.0.
I don't think Private Relay will provide a solution, that should only affect Safari (and you'll only have it available if you have an iCloud+ account - i.e. paid for). It definitely has no effect on third party apps anyway.
I do know that getting the account details right for the PN servers can be tricky, and not as straight forward as some others. You do need to make sure those details are correct (also, just typing a comma instead of a full stop by mistake, or add an extra space somewhere can be so hard to spot).
As @Townman says, try deleting the account and re-entering it. I have had to do that sometimes with the Outlook account particularly (sometimes it's not the client fault, quite often the servers can have hissy fits). I often get a 'could not connect to server' error there, and just waiting usually allows it to start connecting again.
Otherwise, I don't know. I think some of the possible 'internet' solutions are often coincidental, as they don't actually offer a fix, but more often just reset everything and it starts working anyway.
Cheers
Andy

Thanks, guys, very helpful.
I will give it a few days and run the 18.2.1 update. Fingers crossed.

I don't have an iPad but did have issues on iPhone on 18.1.1. This worked for me:

Not seen any issues on 18.2.1 yet.

Thanks, Dave.
I'm still sitting on it so still on 18.1.1 which has been fine so I was very surprised just now that the Mail app hadn't downloaded any email for several hours.
Webmail showed about 10 emails missing from the app.
A simple reboot seems to have solved the problem...for now!
