What version of TB? On my 3.x I need to go to Edit/Account Settings. highlight the account then click on remove account.

On my system I used "Tools | Account Settings..." then highlighted the account to be deleted, clicked "Account Actions" at the bottom of the list and selected "Remove Account" from the drop-down list
