freenetname - no MX or A record - error using webmail

I am getting error 0x800CCC0D when using Windows Live Mail, so I logged on to my webmail and tried to send an email,

the error message I got is attached, but it says:

SMTP Error (550): Failed to set sender

.........

sender rejected - invalid domain (no MX or A record)).

When I have previously had problems with WLM I have always been able to use webmail instead, so any ideas????

Hi there.

I'm sorry to see you're unable to send emails via webmail.

I've checked your account and I can't see anything amiss however I've refreshed the mail component to try to fix this. Can you try sending mail after 30 minutes? If you're still unable to we'll raise this with our networks team to investigate further.

Just looked at this for a friend who has a freenetname email.

Looks like the issue is that the freenetname.co.uk domain has after 20 years finally expired...

I wondered why my website which I set up through freenetname in 2000 was down and the FTP to its files no longer working. I really hope that plusnet will renew its domain!

My freenetname account has also stopped working today.

Can't get/send emails and the website is "unknown"!

Although my expiry date on Nominet says Mar 2020.

I can confirm this is in hand with our NetOps team and when I know more I'll let you know however to set expectations it likely won't be tonight as it's a bank holiday. Apologies for the inconvenience this causes.

Just a quick update on this.

I've been able to receive emails this morning (both on my phone and using Outlook on PC) but cannot send them and the website is still "not found"

yep mines not working either. The freenetname server is down/not responding.

It is 10.45am, I have just returned from shopping and downloaded all my emails to WLM - so for me it is now working!!
