error with plusnet email

I use Thunderbird in debian with mate.

Messages using my gmail account work normally.

My plusnet account however returns this :-

Error with account Plusnet

Sending of password for user xxxx did not succeed. Mail server mail.plus.net responded: USER xxxx set, mate

Can anyone help me to resolve/explain this please?

Is this with an email account which worked OK until this evening? In any case I suggest leaving settings as they are until tomorrow, then try again.

Plusnet were due to make network changes tonight though I don't think a noticeable effect on users was expected.

Thanks for that suggestion David..this late at night it's very practical!

I'll see what the morrow brings....... (although it has been present all day - and despite reboots etc...)

Probably. Since email clients are being affected it's likely the impact on webmail would be more significant, hence take it offline.

Seems to be OK and operating normally this morning - just as you suggested might be the case..
