email outage and windows mail on vista

I have just tried accessing my mail via windows live on another machine (running windows 7). it successfully downloaded all the email that i cannot see on vista laptop using windows mail.
the odd thing is that , as i said above,  on the laptop using windows mail, my wife  can see all her mail but i cannot. it sounds/feels like a plusnet problem not a micrsoft one, but i am no expert.....
would anyone at plusnet be able to look into this a bit further, i would be very grateful.......

thanks for yr reply. i cant judge that, and am sure you know better than me.
but if the problem is at my end, it only started when the plusnet email outage problem began, so i am thinking the problem must be related to that initial failure.
the only thing is , how can i get back to how it was before ?
will plusnet be able to help me ?

My guess would be that because it got a login failure during the outage it assumed they were wrong and discarded the username and/or password. Have you re-entered them?

yes, i deleted the account, and then recreated it with the right details. but i got the same error.
and the request in the attached file.
i could try and reinstall windows mail, but vista came with machine and i dont have the discs...

success!
i changed the username password. email still failed. then i got the security request , as attached to last post. i filled it in as before, and it worked.
not sure where else i will need to change the password, but broadband still seems to be working.

strange
i logged onto wifes account, and tried to download mail, expoecting it to fail because passowrd was now wrong. but it did not fail. i checked password was still the old one. senet myself an email which arrived in seconds. so i left it as was.
then, tried to change plusnet username new password back to old one. got "invalid password" messgae - old password was only 7 characters, but now it needs to be 8 or more.
so maybe this was all to do with password lenghth?
