email forwarding from 123Reg/Host Europe

I've been using a setup whereby emails are forwarded from a number of different domains that I have registered with 123Reg. This has worked well for a number of years. Since yesterday evening all emails are being bounced back to senders. A typical response is

The mail system

<xxxxxxxx.co.uk>: host xxxxxx.co.uk[94.136.40.151] said: 550
(result of an earlier callout reused).

I've raised this with 123Reg support and they say that it's only a problem for users who are forwarding to Plusnet. As such they can't help. Does anyone have a fix for this?

I've put a temporary fix in place by forwarding to another email hosting platform but it's not ideal and if there is a fix I'd like to try it.

Best Regards

Alan.

Hi @MrE and welcome to the forums

I can't help you with this issue, but can I please suggest you edit your post as hovering over the xxxx@xxxx address does still give out your email address and I'd hate for you to receive lots of spam. This is an open public forum.

You can edit your reply, by clicking post options (to the side of your post) and select edit reply.

Thanks DS

I hadn't spotted that one. Hopefully it hasn't been targetted yet. Edited now.

Thumbs_Up

You should be alright. I wouldn't expect many to hover over links Wink

Hi @MrE,

so we can look into this, can you drop us a private message with a few more details please?

Ideally we need:

  • the destination address
  • the sender address
  • and the time the messages should have been sent

I have exactly the same issue with my domains at 123Reg and the same error message when email forwarding from 123 to Plusnet

Re: email forwarding from 123Reg/Host Europe

I have this too, forward emails from 1-2-3 reg to my Plusnet email address,  although the error for me is

550 Callout verification failed: 550: #5.1.8 Domain of sender address <> does not exist.

Not had any emails since just after 7am this morning.  1-2-3 reg is forwarding to my husband's gmail account so it isn't them.

Any progress?  I was hoping to hear about a job application I made today 😞

Re: email forwarding from 123Reg/Host Europe

It's probably best to temporarily change the forwarding from 123Reg to your husband's gmail or set up your own gmail which is what I've done.

Emails seem to be bounced back to sender so it's unlikely that any that you miss will appear once the problem is fixed.

Thanks MrE, I've forwarded off to Gmail now.  Been with Plusnet for ten years and not had big issues before.

Yes, we've switched forwarding to GMail too, but this needs to be fixed. Ours has been walking faultlessly for around 10 years....
