eFax Spear Phishing

I got one of these emails today - the linked article uses the phrase 'spear phishing' to mean a targeted phishing attack rather than a random one. I've never used the eFax service, but, with plusnet recently winding-up their fax2email service earlier this month I wondered if there might be a connection.  Have other plusnet (et al) subscribers had these emails?

There should not be a link.
We are winding up the service for customers that have not used it and existing customers service will continue.
There is potentially a point that you are being targeted that you are a Plusnet customer. However I am unsure how they would determine that this is the case.
