e mail icon in Adobe Reader X won't work

Bit off topic, but wondered if anyone has a cure for this glitch in Adobe Reader?
Though I can right click on pdf and send via my default e mail (Thunderbird), clicking
e mail icon when document is open (in Adobe) no longer works.
Googling, seems to be very common issue/ no fixes.
Strangely this laptop which runs on Vista Business, and latest versions of
T'Bird & Adobe Reader,
doesn't have issue' another laptop running Vista Home Premium has the issue.
Thanks

Vista itself is an 'issue' isn't it? Tongue
On a serious note I've just tried this on my Windows 7 x64 box with the latest stable build of Thunderbird and encountered the same problem. I fixed it as follows:

  • Opened the registry editor (Typed 'regedit' minus the quotes into the run/search dialogue).
  • Navigated to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail
  • Highlighted the 'Mail' folder in the left-hand navigation pane double clicked the 'Default' key in the right-hand pane
  • Changed the value from 'Microsoft Outlook' to 'Mozilla Thunderbird' (minus the quotes) then clicked OK and closed the registry editor.

I then opened a PDF document from my desktop, clicked the email button then the attach option and Thunderbird opened the compose message window.

That's under HKEY_CURRENT_USER and not HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. What's the registry entry set to under the latter?
