a really thick question

Hi
I did n't worry too much about plusnet email as I have my own domain and mail is handled by 34sp.
However, I've hit a problem that I cabt set up themail client on both of the IP cameras I use with my current provider.
I had this problem before, and got around it by setting up another user on my ISP, virgin and then forwarding.
Now I've move from viginmedia to plusnet, I'm trying to to the same again this time with the plusnet mailbox.
I've tried logging in to webmail with richard@username.plus.com and the account password, postmater@ username.plus.com
I've tried setting up another mailbox as ipcam2, but haven't found wher to add the password
Tried logging in with that using ipcam2@username.plus.com, account password.
No matter what I try get login failed
so I tried putting a redirect from link:csa removed to link:csa removed
mail sent to it is returned
<link:csa removed>: Host or domain name not found. Name service error
for name=.plus.com type=A: Host not found
richard@richard-Inspiron-N5030 ~ $ dig.plus.com
; <<>> DiG 9.9.5-3ubuntu0.5-Ubuntu <<>>.plus.com
;; global options: +cmd

So according to plusnet
I DONT EXIST  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
since signing up I've had nothing but problems

Re: a really thick question

If you didn't set up an email account when you moved to Plusnet then you won't have one
Try going to here https://portal.plus.net/my.html?memberheader=myaccount and click on Email Settings under My Account and you may be able to set one up

from the link you sent it shows :-

Re: a really thick question

Unless you have webspace with Plusnet an A record for username.plus.com will not exist. However there should be an MX record to handle mail. How long is it since the default mailbox was created in Manage My Mail? DNS needs a few hours to propagate.
If sufficient time has elapsed you probably need to contact live chat and ask them to reset the mail component on your account.
For logging into the default mailbox using webmail (or a mail client on your computer) the username is your account username, and password your account password. However mail sent to it should go to defaultmailboxname@username.plus.com.

And as you can see it does not exist...

There is a single default mailbox on your account with a postmaster alias pointed to it.
It has MX records:
~$ dig ********m.plus.com mx
; <<>> DiG 9.3.4-P1.2 <<>> ********m.plus.com mx
;; global options:  printcmd
;; Got answer:
;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NOERROR, id: 47845

;********m.plus.com.            IN      MX
;; ANSWER SECTION:
********m.plus.com.    300    IN      MX      10 mx.avasin.plus.net.

As this is your default mailbox, you log in using the same details used to log into the Plusnet website/Member Centre. Using thee details, I am able to log into the mailbox without issue.

I didn't Huh
Although based on what you've said, I suspect the email service was only activated recently (was it?). If so, it's likely to have been due to the propagation delay as suggested by spraxyt.

Re: a really thick question

Only time will tell,at the moment the minute my contracted time is up, I will move to another ISP.
I've never encounterd such poor customer service, and tech support.
I could never recommend PN to anyone.

One day it will get through the the managing bean counters that the way new customers are treated is important.
Maybe the company I use for domain Hosting and mail handling will move in to the ISP business,
their customer serivce and tech support is excellent, they are on the west side of the Pennines, as I am.
