Re: Wierd email ,,, ?

That is a spam email and more than likely has taken you to a website that attempted to install malware on to your PC. As you've clicked the links I recommend you run a full scan of your PC.
When you get emails like that hover the mouse over any link before you click it so that you can see the web address it will take you to. If they don't match (and particularly if they will take you to a .ru, .cn or similar) DON'T CLICK THE LINK!

Re: Wierd email ,,, ?

Never ever click on the unsubscribe - this just verifies that you exist and you'll get even more junk email.
*Edit - even downloading the images can positively identify to the spammer that you have received the email (which is why lots of email software gives the option not download images in the email).
Often these spam mails are referral based schemes where they get a % or a few $$ / ££ for signing up new customers.

Re: Wierd email ,,, ?

I report all such emails to spamcop.net - they seem to deal with them well.

Re: Wierd email ,,, ?

Service providers supplying email services could make info like 'never click on unsubscribe links on random emails' known to customers when they sign-up.
Would save an awful lot of grief if ppl knew that, and other simple trouble avoidance tips.
No website for 'sportsbetting.com', seems just to be hosted for email. Registrant is in Cook Islands.

Re: Wierd email ,,, ?

Sounds like they don't have a clue.
Personally I'd mark it down as spam and walk away.
I get hundreds of these every week.

Re: Wierd email ,,, ?

I agree DomS but every one i have received has had a different sender so spam filter not working  Embarrassed  even tho i mark each one as spam i get another  Crazy Crazy auto delete now  Wink
their last reply after i suggested that he tried to open the link to test if he got infected  Cheesy he decided that he would pass it to their IT dept .
But they still have not said if originally, if  it is one of their Emails that have been hacked  , which was the reason for me bringing it to their attention

Re: Wierd email ,,, ?

The spam filter will only usually start working when enough reported spam from an an IP address identifies it as a problem. Often the spammers use compromised email servers or home PC's then send vast amounts of spam from them. Until the spamcops catch up with this activity it tends to sneak through. The spammers then move to the next compromised email server.
I'll often get 4 or 5 spam emails in a row with the first not identified as spam but subsequent mails marked as spam (using my own email server  / antispam software)
