Who sent this ?

Is it possible to identify who has sent you an e-mail or where it has come from ?
I Use Googlemail and in looking at the address box the following was shown,  https://mail.google.com/mail/?hl=en-GB&shva=1#inbox/12df62a638b8da5a
I would add it was nothing offensive but was puzzled by the address and why someone would wish to hide it.

Re: Who sent this ?

I Have the following additional information...............ingol-golf@gmx.co.uk
Does this provide me with enough information to trace it ?
I think you can pay to have e-mails traced but I am not willing to do this as it's really a matter of curiosity rather than anything important.

Re: Who sent this ?

GMX is Global Mail Exchange, who provide email services in the same way that Google does. The name before the @ implies it is related to Ingol Golf Club, but lots of fullstops is peculiar (suspicious?); apart from being registered with GMX that could be/mean anything. The headers in the email should show where it originated from and the path taken to your Google account.
