Where are my emails to domain name address?

I've been meaning to ask this, and hopefully sort it out for ages.

History is that I had an account with Freenetname, this migrated to Madasafish, which then went to Plusnet.

I still have the domain name which at present I use for email.

The email is accessed via (my username)@freenetname.co.uk which appears to redirect to "Madasafish"

I can log onto the MAAF site, but if I try to access the email, it says that has moved to Plusnet.

The only mail I can see on the Plusnet webmail is billing reminders from Plusnet, to my PN address.

(username)@(username)plus.com

Any idea how I can see my emails to my domain name address?

It appears to all be working OK at present, but I thought it wasn't yesterday as fewer than normal emails were received.

It seems there might be a future problem there though?

Thanks

Re: Where are my emails to domain name address?

Hi @Minesapint,

Thank you for getting in touch. I'm sorry to hear that you've had trouble viewing the emails to your domain email address. If you login to webmail with your full email address in the username box it should allow you to view all of your emails to this address.

Re: Where are my emails to domain name address?

Hi Emily.

Thanks for the reply.

I can log in using (username)@(username).plus.net as the username.

However I'm seeing the same as using just my username.

In other words just billing notices from PN.

The "current mailbox" is showing as (username)@(username).plus.net

There's no other mailbox at present. And no mails to my domain addresses.

Mails to my domain name address (*@mydomain.co.uk)

Are arriving OK at present to my mail client apparently from the freenetname server.

I'm trying to sort out why I can't see these mails on PN webmail.

Hope that makes sense.

Re: Where are my emails to domain name address?

Hi there. Can you try logging in to webmail using your full domain address as the username and your domain password for the password letting us know how it goes?

From 31st October 2022, I no longer have a regular presence here as I’ve moved on to a new role.

Re: Where are my emails to domain name address?

Thanks Gandalf.

I've tried logging in using this format

http://www.(mydomain).co.uk

and my normal password for PN.

This gets a bit confusing in itself, as the password I had (and had for years) was too short for a fairly recent update so I added some extra characters.

IIRC the "old" shorter password works for email on the freenetname server, but the new one works for the PN one.

Tried both.

Can't log in.

Re: Where are my emails to domain name address?

Your domain address would be in an e-mail format. For example, something@yourdomain.co.uk

Re: Where are my emails to domain name address?

OK I've tried that.

One snag I can see there is that I can use (anything)@(mydomain).co.uk

And have done for years for filtering.

So I have tried

(Username)@(mydomain).co.uk

and

@(mydomain).co.uk

with the normal PN password.

Neither allows me to log in.

Re: Where are my emails to domain name address?

You would need to use your Freenetname password to access your domain e-mails rather than your Plusnet one

Re: Where are my emails to domain name address?

Doesn't work I'm afraid.

TBH, it's not essential for me being able to access this mail via PN Webmail.

It would be useful on occasion though.

As long as the Freenetname server continues working. I can access mails as I normally do. Via Thunderbird.

However I've been meaning to try to sort this out for a while as it's "something that doesn't work"

Thanks again for the continuing support and ideas.

Re: Where are my emails to domain name address?

@Minesapint I'm a bit unclear from your post whether your domain is now hosted by PlusNet or notUndecided. If it is , then logging in to the member centre and selecting 'domain names' in the Account settings should show your domain as hosted.

If it isn't shown as hosted by PN then ignore what follows as the domain is still somehow hosted by Freenetname/Madasafish and I don't know what I'm talking aboutEmbarrassed

If it is hosted by PN then mail to <mailboxname>@yourdomain is the same as <mailboxname>@<username>.plus.net(or is it com?)

So to receive mail to <mailboxname>@yourdomain, you need to create a mailbox on your PN account using the 'Manage My Mail' tool in the member centre. If you don't wish to create actual mailboxes for all your email addresses then it's also possible to use Aliases to associate more than one name with a mailboxname.

Without separate mailboxes then all emails will go to the 'catch all' or default mailbox.

Webmail will only accept login for the default mailbox or mailboxes that have been created

Re: Where are my emails to domain name address?

Only just back on the machine.

Thanks MisterW

Nothing there under "domain names"

So it looks as if the domain is still hosted by MAAF / Freenetname as you say.

No problem to me really as long as there are no plans to shut the servers there down.

PS. Just realised there's a thanks button here. I thought it was "This fixed my problem"

Re: Where are my emails to domain name address?

Yeah your domain would be on your Freenetname account which you can access by logging in at www.madasafish.com

To login to webmail, are you using your domain e-mail address and the password your mail client uses?

Re: Where are my emails to domain name address?

I don't think that I fixed your problem at all. I believe the old MAAF domain isn't a real domain as we PN users understand it.

Re: Where are my emails to domain name address?

I can log into MAAF using my Freenetname email address.

ie (username)@freenetname.co.uk

That uses the older shorter version of the PW.

The MAAF webmail leads to a page that says "No longer available. Log into Plusnet webmail"

Which doesn't have the mail.

The (my domain name address) mail actually comes from the Freenetname server.

That's not visible on the web at all as a webmail page at all, as far as I can see.

Re: Where are my emails to domain name address?

@MisterW

No I was saying "Thanks for the help" not that it was fixed. Smiley

Just trying to add a bit of ambiguity,  Cheesy

As I said, the mail actually comes from a Freenetname server.

Just trying to sort out if there is a way to see it on the Plusnet server.

Seems to me that there are two systems there. One is a sort of legacy system for old Freenetname customers.

Don't know how many of us there are now. I think it became MAAF around 2006.

I will say that the various companies including Plusnet have been very decent about keeping to the original deal.
